Monitor presence of legionella bacteria
Air and water borne diseases can easily spread and can be contagious. The waterborne Legionella bacteria can be found worldwide in many different natural and artificial aquatic environments, such as industrial and domestic water systems used in sanitary, hygiene, and technical installations. It can be present in cooling towers, water systems in hotels, buildings, ships, factories, dental clinics, respiratory therapy equipment, water fountains, reservoirs, misting devices and spa pools.
Sampling and inspection of water samples should hence be a part of a routine maintenance programme for building owners so as to ensure that there is no bacterial contamination of water used by its staff and customers or the general public at such locations and facilities.
Being one of the region's leading test laboratory, TUV SUD has the capability and expertise in sampling and inspecting water samples for Legionella bacteria, utilizing internationally recognised test standards as below:
- ISO 11731:1998 - Water Quality - Detection and Enumeration of Legionella
- AS/NZS 3896:2008 - Waters Examination for Legionella spp. including Legionella pneumophila
TÜV SÜD is also proficient in monitoring and conducting testing programs using APHA and USEPA methods, which ensures all microbiological and chemical parameters of water quality complies with local and international requirements.
